Internet Investment, something's wrong?

By Michael Smetana

The internet has taken many investors on a great ride to the moon. I specifically use the word ride to the moon to signify the ups and downs that have been faced

It seems that Investors have put there money in the right spots on this one, but what happens when the Internet Changes?

This is where the Dot Com boom started and well... Failed. Big Business wanted a piece of the internet so badly that they actually paid a unprofessional Kid (young Adult 18-22 years) to do there work for them.

Now I don't know but this seems like a really silly business mistake. And it was. Of course they got what they wanted for about 10-20 times too much money then they should have spent.

What would happen is Big companies were so eager to invest into the Internet that they didn't want to take the time to learn. They gave Kids the ability to make the decision and along with it a big bank account.

Now most of these kids, being inexperienced, fresh out of High School, Fresh out of College, have never had anything to do with a budget. They have always had the family taking care of them, buying those clothes, food, etc.

Most of the Kids didn't properly budget and spent all this new money on Toys, New Cars, and Parties. Then when they ran out of money, they went back to the big businesses and asked for more. And they got it.

I'm not an expert on Investment, I have totally lost my share, but I would know better then to trust my money in the hands of an un-budgeting Kid that claims to know how to create and manage the vast world of the internet.

Now don't get me wrong, some of these people did correct, they built, earned and budgeted the money, making the internet what it is today, But wouldn't it have been better to spend a few days to learn how to do what someone else already knows? Or even have this Kid you just hired come into your own office to work there under supervision for budgeting management. Well not for these companies.

Kind of makes you think.
