What You Sould Consider When Looking For a Hotel

By Chelsea Rosamund

When going on vocation, one of the toughest and tasks is to choose the right hotel to stay at. This is especially difficult if you do not know the area where you are going on vacation or if you go there during the busiest tourist season.

It is always important to book in advance if you're planning on going on a vacation to any city - depending on what happens, there might not be a vacancy in the best hotel for you. You should always plan your vacations in advance anyway, however, so this shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

It is not necessary to choose the most expensive hotel in order to get good service. But if the hotel is a very cheap one, this must raise a red flag -- there is most likely a reason. A good benchmark threshold Motel 6, where a room is about $40. Anything under this price is most likely unreasonable, and should be considered suspiciously cheap.

Hygiene is another important consideration, when looking for a hotel. You will never find an impeccably sterilized hotel room but as rule, more expensive hotels are more hygienic than the really cheap ones. While on vocation, you get what you deserve for the money you pay.

Here are some more considerations about what to look for before deciding which hotel to book.

The most important consideration is how much money you can afford for a hotel room. If you cannot spend more than a hundred dollars per night, this might be too bad. Depending on the destination, where you are going to, less than a hundred dollars per night might prove totally insufficient to get a decent room.

Another important consideration is breakfast. Breakfast can be a continental one, a full service, or no breakfast at all. The advantage of in-hotel breakfast is that it is easier for you in the morning to go and have breakfast in the hotel restaurant, rather than looking for food somewhere else or ordering room service. But if you are going out very early, even a light continental breakfast, not to mention the full service one, might be unnecessary.

If you would like to have a pool in the hotel where you are going to stay, check in advance the location of the pool (outdoor, indoor) and if it will be open when you get there.
For instance, it is very unlikely that an outdoor pool will be open in winter. Also, even if the pool is open, check its working hours to make sure you will be able to go swimming in time that is convenient for you.

Another really important thing to consider is the location of your hotel. For instance, if you're going to go to Disneyland, and you don't want to deal with rental cars, then you should probably stay at a hotel that is either right next to the park, or that is at least within walking distance of it.

The last thing to do, after you have decided which hotel to stay at, is to buy a package for the trip. Paying for the hotel and buying tickets separately might be a hundred dollars more expensive in comparison to purchasing a package from an agency, which offers vacation discounts.
