Many people say that the most tedious part of a holiday involves travelling to and from their destination. After all, there's always luggage to cart around, queues to wait in and a persistent sense of haste and worry in case you don't catch your flight or train. But what many people don't realize is that getting there is half the fun - that is, if you take the time to enjoy your surroundings.

The UK is relatively compact, with many intriguing and scenic cities in close proximity to one another. And so, renting a car is certainly one of the best ways to tour the UK and get the most out of your visit. Driving while on holiday enables you to experience all the tourist hotspots between your destinations, and allows you to enjoy them at your own leisure. Alternatively, if you're after a scenic or quiet getaway, why not visit the charming Cotswolds villages in England's Midlands? Or, perhaps, drive up to the stunning Scottish Highlands where you can relax and take in the beauty of the vast, rolling hills. No matter what type of holiday you're after, rest assured that the UK has lots to offer; and by hiring a car, you're sure to get the most out of your experience. Furthermore, road trips are ideal for extended breaks as well as weekend getaways - so even if you're limited on time, you can still indulge in a getaway.
