Remembering Early Lessons Can Help You Be More Successful
By Gordon Bellows
I am going to start this article by asking you a few simple questions. At first, they may seem silly, but I want you to really think about your answers as you read the questions.
Do you remember who taught you how to ride a bicycle?
Who taught you how to tie your shoelaces or tie a tie?
Who taught you how to cook or sew?
Who showed you how to drive? Was it a manual transmission?
I know you must be wondering what all of this has to do with improving your chance for success. The focus of this article is success in any area of your life, and more specifically, how to be more successful in network marketing/MLM.
By now, you should be thinking about who taught you how to do the things listed above. If they taught you the right way to do something, they probably knew how to do it themselves.
I hope you are starting to see where I am headed with this. You usually learn to do things from somebody who already knows how to do it.
Well then, why do we listen to people who tell us how to do certain things and how to be successful when they haven't been successful themselves? These people might mean well, but their opinion really shouldn't count unless they have the experience and/or the expertise to back it up.
Don't pay any attention to those who say it can't be done. Some people don't understand how to do it, and some may try to discourage you because they are jealous of your dreams.
Listen to the person who has reached a goal that you want to reach and decide if the method they used will work for you.
A mentor, somebody who has already reached a certain level of success, can help you get on the right track. The old expression of the blind leading the blind could happen to you if you follow the advice of someone who has no idea how to do something right.
Desire and determination are important, but you also need a plan you can follow to reach your goal. If you're on your own, it may be hard to find what works best without spending lots of time and effort. That's why it's so important in MLM to have effective ways to promote and sponsor. Opportunities should have a system that can be used by all participants.
Do you remember being frustrated when you tried to learn some of the things mentioned at the first of this article?
You really wanted to ride that bicycle and nothing was going to stop you! After all, the kid from next door was doing it, so it must not be that big of a deal. Right?
What about learning to drive? The moment you first stepped on the gas pedal it sent tingles down your spine. And, if you learned to drive a manual transmission, you wondered how people could actually work the clutch and the gas pedal at the same time. It just did not seem possible at first.
The point I want to make here is that most people kept at it until they were able to do some or all of those things with reasonable certainty and felt comfortable about it.
However, as adults, we might give up before we get good at something. We lack the same tenacity and the do-it-or-else kind of attitude we had in our youth. That is sad, because there is no reason we should not strive to be better at the things that interest us, or reach a higher level of success.
We have it within us to fulfill our desires and make our dreams come true!
To have success in any area of your life you should first believe in yourself and what you are doing. Also, you should firmly believe that your dreams will become your reality.
And, to help improve your chance of becoming successful, you should pay close attention to people who have been there and done that. Their experience can guide you.
