Staying In London

By Anil Gupta

Visit to London can be a very enjoyable experience. One has to plan ahead for it and budget the stay in such a way that one gets to do all the things one had planned to do when in London.

The first thing that comes in to a person's mind when in London is where to stay? Looking for a place to stay for the duration of one's visit can be a daunting task. First step taken for this is to plan the budget. In that budget one has to find out which is the best place to stay. How far is it from all the famous tourist destinations? Is it centrally located or not? If it is not centrally located then you have problem the amount of money you will save on your lodgings in a place not located centrally will be spend to commuting. The first choice for the low budget stay in London is the Bed and Breakfast places. The B&B hotels offer extremely competitive prices on all rooms. Some of these even have dormitory beds.

London is an expensive city for travelers, especially when the exchange rate favors the English pound. It should not be a concern for any tourist. One can do some great London sightseeing, with minimal hassles and reasonable cost. First of all museums are free- This is a wonderful boon for London sightseers. Kids will love the hands-on Science Museum, nest is the Museum of Natural History. The latter has an amazing collection of realdinosaurs (dead bones, that is, but the real Mccoy). Also not to be missed is the British Museum, with Egyptian mummies, Greek statues, and much more.

The Underground is a fast and very inexpensive way to travel. One can buy a Family Pass "The Tube", as it is affectionately called, is wonderfully efficient way to get around. One can even take it from Heathrow Airport.

BYOS Bring Your Own Snacks. With kids around it will be best to pad one's suitcases with granola bars, juice packs, and the mini-packages of snacks one send in kids' lunches. They'll come in handy while one is out sight-seeing, and will save a fortune as it will be much cheaper in the long run.

Take a walk near the Thames it has many areas that are great for strolling, with restaurants, maybe even street entertainers (around the London Eye, for instance.) Nothing beats walking as a way to enjoy the vibe of a place.

Buy tickets online in advance Top London sightseeing attractions are very popular indeed, especially in summer: buy tickets online for the London Eye, Shakespeare's Globe, to save time a money and energy. Staying in place which serves "full English breakfast", an enormous repast; or in an apartment where one can do one's own breakfasts and cook a few simple dinners.

Budget Style hotels also give you Breakfast. Though a few are in need of renovation, for this reason the low rates, but generally are clean and comfortable. Most buildings are historically listed and are 3 or 4 floors high. A few may have lifts but quite a few don't have lifts.

The London of today promises something for everyone. The London Eye lifts visitors high above the river into vistas that stretch tight across the fading skies. Further down on the South Bank, the Tate Modern contains one of the world's most incredible collections of Modern Art, while the city's 30,000 stores and boutiques will exhaust even the most avid shopper, and its 6,000 restaurants are only too eager to demonstrate why Britons revere their chefs as celebrities.
