Alternative Medicines Offer Consumers Health Care Choices
By Elisabeth Lawrence
Complementary Medicine or Alternative Medicine offers you a choice in medical care and a philosophy that varies greatly from common medical care. In light of the recent exposure of the serious, and often deadly, side effects of pharmaceutical drugs, it is especially important that you understand you do have a choice in the type of medical care you seek.
According to Dr. Conrad Maulfair, Director of the Maulfair Medical Center in Topton, Pa., reliance on drugs and surgery is a mistake when it comes to chronic problems. "You may need some drugs and surgery if you have an acute medical problem like a car accident or organ failure," he says. "But it is a mistake to rely on drugs and some surgeries when you have an ongoing problem like high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, fatigue and the problems that come with aging. If you want to complement your fitness program you will not benefit from drugs. All drugs are considered toxins by the body."
Physicians who practice Complementary Medicine or Alternative Medicine search for the reason you have a symptom or a health problem in the first place, rather than prescribing a drug to alleviate the symptom. "For example, wondering why you have high blood pressure and searching for your reason or cause could lead to the discovery that your body is loaded with toxic metals," says Dr. Maulfair. "Now you have a cause of your high blood pressure; removing toxic metals restores the normal function of your body and subsequently lowers your blood pressure." Likewise, Dr. Maulfair advises that, if you have migraines, you should seek and address the cause of your headaches rather than medicating them. "Diagnostics that concern the function of your organ systems are available and result in real data you can use to change the course of your health problems," he says.
Most people don't realize that there are alternatives to traditional medical care, and that health and healthy aging involve seeking out the causes of conditions, rather than treating their symptoms. "When you demand information about staying healthy from your health care providers, you will not succumb to illness," says Dr. Maulfair. "Those of us who practice medicine by restoring health do not bypass your problems; rather, we find the causes and we correct those abnormal functions and we achieve real results."
Dr. Maulfair concludes, "In our practice, we have demonstrated clinical results using chelation therapy and other intravenous therapies that provide your body with the nutrients and the help it needs to overcome health problems naturally."
