It's Belongs to?

By Xylon

Each time you start up a new mmog (Massive Multiple Online Game), how many of you out there would take your time to read the Term and Agreement list? If you don't read it, let me remind some:

SOE (Sony Online Entrainment) Team and Agreement
YOU PROMISE, THEREFORE, THAT YOU WILL NEVER ASSERT OR BRING ANY CLAIM OR SUIT AGAINST SOE, ITS LICENSOR(S), ANY SONY COMPANY, OR ANY EMPLOYEES OF ANY OF THE ABOVE, WHICH IS RELATED TO OR BASED ON (I) A CLAIM THAT YOU "OWN" ANY VIRTUAL GOODS IN ANY GAME, (II) A CLAIM FOR THE "VALUE" OF VIRTUAL GOODS IF SOE DELETES THEM (AND/OR TERMINATES YOUR ACCOUNT(S)) IF YOU OR ANYONE ACTING IN CONCERT WITH YOU VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF THE EXCHANGE AGREEMENT, THIS AGREEMENT, THE GAME'S RULES OF CONDUCT, SOE'S TERMS OF SERVICE AND/OR SOE'S PRIVACY POLICY (ALL OF WHICH ARE POSTED AT A LINK AT WWW.EVERQUEST2.COM), (III) A CLAIM FOR THE "VALUE" OF VIRTUAL GOODS THAT YOU MAY LOSE IF SOE DOES ANYTHING THAT IT IS ENTITLED TO DO PURSUANT TO ANY PROVISION OF THE EXCHANGE AGREEMENT, THIS AGREEMENT, THE GAME'S RULES OF CONDUCT, SOE'S TERMS OF SERVICE AND/OR SOE'S PRIVACY POLICY, OR FOR ANY MALFUNCTIONS AND/OR "BUGS" IN THE GAME, AND/OR (IV) A CLAIM THAT THE "VALUE" OF ANY VIRTUAL GOODS HAS INCREASED OR DECREASED BY VIRTUE OF ANY GAME MODIFICATION THAT SOE HAS MADE OR WILL MAKE . ALL OF THE ABOVE APPLIES WHETHER ON AN EXCHANGE ENABLED SERVER OR ON A NON-EXCHANGE ENABLED SERVER.
So now what? The first thing we notice were the CAP LOCKS word which strongly goes into your mind and make this as a serious problem. Second thing, why do all the Virtual Goods seem didn't belong to us? We pay for the game box, and we pay for the server feed, and of course for sometimes we even pay for the server down time of the game, as a result of this, we own a place to level our char, have fun with other players, and one important things, we spend hundred or hours to own our Virtual Goods online which didn't belong to us.

These term and agreement were totally hunting down the whole MOG community; we all know there is a big secondary market of virtual goods, player which don't have hundred of time to spend on the game would rather buy an account or buy any game money to make he feels more comfortable in game, and player which decide to left the game could have share their account and earn some money for the time which he invest on the game.

Some simple numbers could show how people vote for the virtual secondary market is. In the past year, there are over 2 million people buying virtual goods from secondary game stores, these players think those virtual goods belongs to the players but not owned by either the dev team of the game, or the company itself. Million of people had pay and vote for the secondary market also the ownership of the virtual goods, and the market were still growing strongly even stronger then the primary market. It's a must to change the Old styles of those team and agreement,.
We buy the games, we play the games, and also, WE OWN those virtual Goods of the games, this is what the further MMOG path belongs to.
