CD Duplication Service

By Franklin

A number of businesses have come to require CD's for their marketing and promotional campaigns. Some businesses rely solely on the distribution of CD's in order to generate interest and lure new customers to their products and services. Other professionals need to hire a CD duplication service when they have a number of musical CD's that are needed for selling or for distribution. There are a number of reasons a CD duplication service is required for both professionals and private individuals, but the process can be quite confusing without understanding a little bit about what a CD duplication service is and what is involved in CD duplication.

CD duplication services offer more than just duplication assistance. Most CD duplication businesses offer their customers several options for the kind of CD they want their content to be recorded on as well as available templates or artwork to complete an entire project. There are a number of options available like formatting, content and other pertinent details. Without understanding what a person is ordering, a CD duplication service can only provide so much assistance.

When ordering from a CD duplication service, the words 'duplication' and 'replication' are most likely used interchangeably by someone who doesn't understand that there is a difference in meaning between the two words for someone who duplicates CDs. Replication means to create a CD from a mold where data is formed inside the CD. The coating on the CD allows a CD player to read the information on the inside of the CD. Duplicating a CD simply means that information is burned onto a CD that records. Replication requires a controlled area while duplication can be done in just about any environment.

Probably the most confusing part of using a CD replication service will be in choosing from the different types of formats that are available. Anyone working at a CD duplication service is likely to throw around a bunch of letters and numbers like CD-I, CD-ROM, DVD-9, DVD-18 and more that mean absolutely nothing to the person who needs CD duplications. While the technical information about these formats is important, it isn't necessary to understand every single one of them.

An audio CD is the same kind of CD that is purchased from a music store. An audio CD with data is a music CD that allows for additional information to be stored on the disk. When this type of CD is put into a CD player, it will play music and when it is put into a CD-ROM drive, it will reveal additional information as well as the audio tracks. A data CD is the basic CD that is used for software or other basic information storage. A video CD with data stores both video and information making it possible to view what is included on the CD with two different types of media. If the person that is assisting a customer is presented with a clear idea of what needs to be duplicated, they can direct the customer to the right format.

Musicians, business people and private individuals may all use a CD duplication service at some point depending on their duplication needs. High volume discounts are often available through most CD duplication services. Any CD duplication service with a good reputation will be able to walk a new customer through the process for the first few duplication services.
