Treasure The Memories That Will Last A Lifetime
By Lisa O'Sullivan
Life is never the same. It is full of happy and sad moments. It also is human
nature to seek happiness in different ways, and what better way could be there
than to cherish old memories in the form of photographs. It gives us great joy
and pleasure to see and feel how things used to be in the past. Therein lays the
importance of photo albums or photo books.
Time can never be reversed but memories do not know the boundaries of time
and space. These happy memories can range anything from a toddler growing up,
learning to walk, birthday celebrations, college graduation, wedding ceremony,
wedding anniversary or in some cases they could be of not so happy moments like
say the passing away of somebody very near and dear to us. Most people like to
remember and see happy pictures, not sad or unhappy ones; therefore, it is the
former that is more often than not viewed and recollected at later stages in
life.
With the advance in modern technology new and more durable ways of storing
pictures are available as an option, such as digital videos and so forth; all of
which have much longer shelf life and data storage capacity. Nevertheless, the
importance of photo albums and photo books has its own unique place. It is a
totally different experience to thumb through photo albums either by yourself or
with your near and dear ones, while you remember and talk about the golden
memories.
It is true that photo albums require much care like storage under optimum
conditions where there is not excess of heat or moisture, but then precious
things need attention and so it should not be a reason to complain. Money cannot
buy all things and happiness is certainly one of them, although some people may
not agree with this view. In my personal opinion, the joys experienced on
watching a photo album consisting of cherished old memories grow and grow is
much more than say, for example, eating a pizza or a hamburger. We can conclude
by saying that photo albums are one of the most valuable possessions one could
have in life apart from bank balances and properties. This may not be a
universal truth for all, since people have different schools of thought but I am
pretty sure that a majority of the world population would agree to that.
Human beings are not mere moving masses of matter but only fulfill themselves
at deeper levels of emotions and feelings and the simple concept of a photo
album is very closely related to these subtle levels of existence.
