To make money online, you need to do 3 things:
1. Select products to sell.
2. Develop website to promote the products.
3. Promote your websites.
Sound simple in theory. But not so simple in practice, especially for the beginners. Select the right products is the key to online success. You can create your own product and sell on the Internet. But if you don't have a product, you can sell other people's products. Selling other people's products and earn commissions from it is known as Affiliate Marketing. This is the most basic form of eCommerce and is a great way to start earning money online. But there are thousands and thousands of products to sell on the Internet. How do we know what are the right products?
The second big step is to develop a website to promote the products. Developing a website is very simple even if you don't know HTML. There are many web authoring software available to help you create a professional website in hours. Developing a website is only the beginning, next you need to have good quality contents. Without quality contents, your website is dead, nobody will buy from a website that has lousy content. Having a good quality content on your site is like having a professional sales consultant whose intent is to help you solve your problem. On the other hand, having a lousy content on your site is like having a sales rep whose intent is to push or sell you product.
After you have your product and website, the next step is to promote your website. The main purpose here is to attract people to visit your site. This process is also known as "attracting targeted traffics" to your site. Targeted traffics mean those people who are actually looking for your products. The key here is "relevancy". Meaning that the 3 pieces (product, website and traffics) must be relevant to each other. The content or information on your website must be relevant to the products you are selling. Your promotion process must only attract those people who are looking for information that are relevant to your site content. For example: if your site is about promoting weight loss and diet, it is a waste of time to attract people who are looking for computer parts.
So these are the 3 important processes you need to do to make money online and you need to do it well. You will make money if you do it well but this is easy to say than done. For the beginners, just the thought of finding the right products and creating website can be overwhelming. You really need to know how to do all these step by step.
