How to learn to play guitar online with a free lesson

By Kenneth A MacLeod

This article is an insight into learning to play guitar using an online method, which can teach you the basics in a matter of days. There is also scope for taking you onto a more advanced level, so it is not just for beginners.

HOW TO LEARN TO PLAY THE GUITAR ONLINE WITH A FREE LESSON

How do you first go about learning the guitar?

Seems like a fairly silly question, when you have already decided that playing a guitar is what you want to do. But there are countless different methods, by many different so called 'teachers'. This makes it difficult for the person who is starting out for the first time.

How much does it cost?
Can I learn online?
Which method is best?
Who can teach me quickly?
Is it fun?

Just some of the questions I hope to be able to help you with.

Until recently, the only way to learn was by going to a teacher, or having someone come to you. Whether this was in a group setting or individually, it still meant having to arrange things beforehand. One problem associated with this is the high cost of lessons, as much as $50 each or even more. If your teacher is an 'all-rounder', someone who teaches different classes, such as piano, brass, woodwind for example, are they able to give you specialized knowledge within the field you are trying to learn? How quickly you can learn will depend on the number of lessons you can fit in over a set period of time.

Well then, how about learning to play the guitar online?
Firstly, you can go at your own pace, this could be every day, once a month, or somewhere in-between. I would suggest 20-30 minutes a day rather than 2 or 3 hours once a week, or it could drag out and you run the risk of losing motivation.
Secondly, you need to pick the course that is going to suit you best. I hope to save you research and review time by suggesting one for you.
Thirdly, you don't want to spend money on unnecessary lessons. we'll concentrate on guitar and guitar only. Don't forget this will include things like ear-training, an important part of any music ability, and finger exercises.

So now you're ready to take that first step, have a look and click on the links below, STAAAART WALKIN!
