Herbal Nutrition and its Benefits.

By Franklin Doughe

Nutrition is the effect of taking of food and other nourishing material by the body and to utilize it in bodybuilding and its maintenance.

Generally, the digestion and subsequent operation takes place in three steps. In the first step, the food and / or drink are consumed. In the second step, the body chemistry breaks down the food or drink into different nutrients. In the third step, the nutrients travel through the blood stream to different parts of the body where it is used as fuel and for many other purposes.

So a person should take enough food and drink to get sufficient and varieties of nutrients what the body needs for all round healthy survival.

Some times, our body may not get all kinds of essential nutrients in sufficient quantities from our standard foods and drinks. There is another problem. If we eat large amount of food to supplement the nutrient requirements, the excess calorie we earn from the excess food will put additional pounds to our body. If this practice is continued for months and years together, certainly we will be overweight and obese which will invite more problems to our body.

So some balance is to be maintained between the food intake and the nutrition we get from the food. Herbal Nutritional Supplements play important role in this respect.

What do we understand by Herbal Nutrition?

Herbal Nutrition are the kind of nutrients we get from herbal ingredients taken as food supplements to make up the nutrition requirements of the body which we do not get in enough quantity ordinarily from our regular food.

Modern Research has shown that there are some herbs, which if taken as dietary supplement can provide the additional nutrients, which ordinarily cannot be obtained from normal diet. Research has also established that Herbal Nutrition Supplements can provide us with essential nutrients. Also they can boost up our immune system and some times enhance our memory and sleep quality.

Remember that Sports Nutrition is different from the general nutrition. The cause of this is that, during practicing of tenacious outdoor sports like Football, Tennis, Badminton etc. or rigorous exercise for body builders, much more calories are burnt from the body and a special kind and quantity of nutrition is required for making good of the energy spent for the sportsmen. Also this varies from person to person and the kind of exercise he or she is undertaking. This is a separate branch of science and is out of purview of our present discussions.
