Gouged at the Gas Pumps

By John McCall

The price of filling your car, heating your home, travelling, trucking of goods, quads, boating, even running your lawnmower have all skyrocketed.
Increasing Energy prices ,production costs ,affects anything or anyone that uses gas or it's byproducts.

General Motors said last year that it would cut 30,000 jobs from its north American workforce.

Recently Ford Motor Company announced 30,000 layoffs with 7 North America plant closing. Ouch. They have to restructure to build smaller ,more economical vehicles. No Guts,No Glory.
The spinoff effects from this will cost the economy billions.Detroit - Ford and GM's home town - is now the poorest big US city.
When Henry Ford built his first cars, gas was not an expensive Commodity. Maybe 25cents a gallon.

Then along came $OPEC$

The principal aim of the OPEC, according to its Statute,
Is the coordination and unification of the petroleum policies of its member countries and the determination of the best means for safeguarding their interests,
Individually and collectively; devising ways and means of ensuring the stabilization of prices in international oil markets with a view to eliminating harmful and unnecessary fluctuations.
Giving due regard at all times to the interests of the producing nations and to the necessity of securing a steady income to the producing nations, an efficient,
Economic and regular supply of petroleum to consuming nations, and a(fair)what's a better word here?Hosing? return on their capital to those investing in the petroleum industry.

Formed in 1965 and consisting of Algeria, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.

These 11 nations, including seven Arab countries, with $338 billion in revenue, have total control over the levels of production. Supply and Demand..

Of course the world price of oil is going to rise.OPEC decisions influence international oil prices.

Why do you think the U.S. is involved in Iraq? To be rid of Saddam or Oil?

And to complicate things, enviormental hypocrites keep complaining about polution.

Gas prices on average today are $2.33 US Gal. and .94Lt. or 4.23 CA. It could get Worse..Don't Worry Be Happy.
When adjusted for inflation (constant dollars), gasoline cost more in 1981 than it does today.

There are alternative, comparable costing, cleaner burning fuels. Ethanol,Propane and many in development.

Wouldn't it be better to lower the cost of gas, stimulating consumer ,buying spending to improve the economy?

Meanwhile, Some will ride environmentally friendly bicycles,Some will drive Corn fed cars,Go Solar Power,Battery Powered,Propane,Natural Gas, yet others will keep on paying through the nose.

What do you Think? Imagine...A world without Oil.. Shieks Gone Wild!!

Do you want a Smart Car?"No Guts,No Glory," It should be renamed "The Battery Box" or Lada2.

These are only my thoughts and opinions.. And remember this..Don't Get Hosed..
