Important Hotel and Travel Advice for Your Journey to Ontario

By Aaron Harris

When you daydream about taking a vacation, what do you picture? Vacations stand for many things to many individuals. Some people like to sight see while quite a few others would prefer to pass the entire day kicking back at the hotel. If you are like me, you enjoy a bit of both. On the one hand, because I have found myself someplace unusual to me, I must travel to some of the local flavor. Conversely, if ALL my time is spent zooming from one site to another, when I get back back to my home I will have to have an additional vacation to recuperate. No matter what your ideal vacation looks like, this article will help you move in the right direction when planning your trip to Ontario.

The first thing you will want to do is resolve as much in advance as you can. That means things like exchanging currency when it is necessary, viewing maps of the metropolitan area, leasing a means of transportation (did someone say Harley?), reserving a flight, and selecting a hotel that fulfills your wants. The good news is, many of these jobs have become easier and cheaper through the world wide web, so before contacting a travel agent, you might save some bucks by seeking deals on the web.

When it comes to finding a hotel, always remember to look at your choices with care. Some things to think about would be how it is ranked; is it a 3 star hotel or a four star one? Is it convenient? If you are traveling to Disneyland but your hotel is in San Francisco, you are going to waste a good deal of your vacation driving. Are you planning on staying at the hotel quite a bit, and if you are going to be there, what type of amenities do they offer? I think that I will never forget the time I went out on vacation to sit back by the pool, only to find out that the property I was at didn't have one. I am sure that I must've looked strangely out of place walking around the lobby with my inflatable ducky around my waist and no pool to be found.

When it is time to pack, remember to keep it simple, traveler. Start by familiarizing yourself with the temperature so that you know what you need to pack, but avoid over-packing. Remember, if you forget something, odds are that you can purchase a replacement. As a matter of fact, take as few clothes as possible. I suggest packing older clothing which can be discarded along the way. Depending on where you go, you may find charities that would be happy to take clothing off of your hands. Besides, this will make extra space for keepsakes.

When it comes to entertainment, avoid getting too out-of-control. For instance, don’t pack more than one book. If you are able to read an entire book, give that one away and go buy another one. It’s time to get out and go to the store anyway, you bookworm. Instead, bring something to take notes with and write your own book. This does not necessarily mean the company laptop. Do not use this rule as an excuse to bring your work with you. If at all possible, leave every thought of work behind when you travel. Though it might seem awkward at first, pencil and paper work fine for taking notes.

Two significant items to consider packing are Pepto-Bismol, in case you eat something you shouldn't doesn’t agree with you, and hand sanitizer; the kind you can use without water. Please remember, no matter what situation you find yourself in, don't let the hand sanitizer replace taking a shower.

When you are going to Ontario, you and your family need to carry lots of everything you need for taking photographs. If you are old-school and still use 35mm film, consider stepping up to a digital camera. With a digital camera, I can see what I am taking as I go along. The only things I need are batteries and memory space. Now that you can get a wonderful digital camera for under $200, your excuses are dwindling. Many tourist destinations have places that will transfer your pics from your memory card to a CD, which will permit you to snap even more photos to anguish friends and family with when you get home.

I can't stress enough the value in keeping things simple. Prepare wisely by taking care of as many details as you can in the beginning. In regards to travel, remember, the internet is your friend. Pack, plan, and keep entertainment basic to help make sure that your vacation to Ontario is a relaxing and memorable one. I hope that this humble advice will be applicable to you as you prepare yourself to start on your journey.
