Blinds – 2-1/2" slats of Basswood? Why you ask... Because, they are beautiful!

By M.B. Gournay

There are many benefits arising from your ownership of 2-1/2" basswood blinds . These include better views of the great outdoors while bringing in the beauty of your garden, better light control when you want the room dark and lower maintenance… and we all want to save time dusting.

Improving your view is one of the primary reasons to consider our new Timberview 2-1/2" blinds. If you have a lovely garden or million dollar view of the mountains, ocean or a wooded stream; the last thing you want is to clutter that view with window treatments. But, your safety and privacy are also important. A reasonable compromise is to find just the right alternative for your windows providing your comfort and allowing maximum exposure at the slide of a hand. 2-1/2" slats offer 25% more open space between slats than 2" blinds… and 150% clearer views than traditional 1" minis. Combine that with the beautiful colors choices available and you will have a stunning view with the blinds open or closed.

For the same reasons these larger slats offer improved views, they provide better light blocking properties. Since there are fewer slats to cover the same height of your window, you end up with fewer light gaps to allow reflected light to sneak in to you space. Another consideration for room darkening is to consider darker woods. Darker tones absorb more light than they reflect, not only from outside light sources, but from the inside light as well. But, if you are looking to brighten up your breakfast nook, light stains and paints will amplify the available light and help you get off to a great start each day.

I'm sure you are wondering how these blinds help with your dust issues. It's really quite simple. For the same reasons mentioned above, if you have fewer slats to dust, then your dusting time will be reduced. Not to mention that the smooth UV protected finishes on quality blinds like Timberview, allow easy dust collection with standard dry dusters. When used correctly, the static dusters work exceptionally well. Just remember to keep your duster clean and dry and recharge the static in an empty clothes dryer.
