The Toughness of A Dakota

By Tracy Dawson

Finding its way to the automobile world in 1986, the Dodge Dakota has been around ever since. This vehicle model from Dodge is a tough and compact truck. It has been crafted to be tough and very much powerful. The power from this vehicle comes from its superior V6 engine as well as from its well-supported suspensions. In its segment, it is one of the biggest trucks. It has been made available in a range of monochromatic colors. This vehicle has been made available in three body styles which comprise of the regular car, the extended "Club" cab, and the crew "Quad" cab. This vehicle can actually serve as a family vehicle and it is very spacious and roomy which is even greater compared to its competitors like the Ford Ranger, and the Chevrolet Colorado.

The Dodge Dakota offers features and options that include rear wheel antilock brakes, and a four wheel antilock brake system. It has the capacity to take in a maximum of four passengers in its spacious cabin. This compact truck has received four stars out of five from the NHTSA's crash testing rates. These have been given for both the driver's and front passenger's protection in a frontal collision. This vehicle has certainly been made to be flexible and very versatile. To prove that it can do good, this vehicle shows great performance and supreme handling capability on both rocky terrains and rutted trails as well as on smooth pavements and surfaces.

The Dodge Dakota has been made available in six trim levels which comprise of the Base model, the SXT, the Sport, the Sport Plus, the luxury SLT, and the SLT Plus. The Base model holds features like air conditioning, cloth seats, and an AM/FM radio. The value-oriented SXT has been upgraded with bucket seats, interior carpets, and a CD player. Both the Sport and the Sport Plus trim levels offer cloth interiors, an upgraded gauge cluster, and gives options that include a keyless entry system, power windows, and a CD changer. As per the SLT and the SLT Plus luxury levels, these hold all the features mentioned previously for the other trim levels. It also has leather seats as well as larger wheels and tires. Other options for the Dodge Dakota include heated leather seating surfaces, a subscription-based Sirius satellite radio, two-row side-curtain airbags, an anti-slip rear differential, a wiring harness, a heavy duty engine cooling, an auxiliary transmission cooler, a power steering cooler, and folding heated mirrors.

Taking a look at the exterior of the Dodge Dakota parts, it has been said that it had the Dodge Ram pickup as its inspiration. It has a vertical crosshair grille, a contoured fender, and sharp body creases. It also has a tubular bed extender.
