Regular Food Cravings- Weight Loss Disrupter
By Jenifer D'souza
Do you always crave for food, in spite of having your daily routine lunches and breakfasts? Do you always want to talk about food?
Restricting one self to these urges is a difficult challenge in front of many people. In fact these people could overcome their cravings if they just took some cautious responsibility until the craving. Experts say there's a difference between real hunger and cravings. Hunger is a biological need to eat something because your stomach is empty, while a craving is an intense desire for a specific food. Like while watching a movie, one may think, "I've got to have some popcorn."
Most obesity researchers say many people have psychological desires for certain foods. What they don't agree on is whether some desires for food are also biological.
Some other researchers theorize that people crave carbohydrates because of a deficiency of the brain chemical serotonin. Other researchers say it's mostly fat that people crave.
Scientists are still struggling to pinpoint the psychological reasons for cravings, but they say many cravings are caused by stress, anxiety, depression and fatigue. Excess weight or obesity is a chronic disease that affects many people and often requires medical treatment to promote and sustain weight loss.
There are many prescription drugs available in the markets that are used to suppress the craving for food. Like wise, Phentermine, a prescription medication, can be used to assist with the battle of obesity. Similar to this very common drug, Adipex, Didrex, Bontril, Meridia and more have been launched in the market and are being safely prescribed by doctors.
These drugs work by suppressing appetite via a central mechanism in the brain. These drugs should be used as a short term drug to help patients to start losing weight while the patient is undergoing permanent long term changes in their attitude towards food and exercise. The body starts to build up a resistance to the effects of these drugs after a few weeks of treatment, by which time the patient should be well on their way to a new lifestyle.
For maximum effect, these drugs must be used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program. These drugs should not taken as the last option but regular exercise and a healthy diet along side will definitely lead to better mind and a hale and hearty body!
