This uses tension and friction to turn the auxiliary devices. Usually, it is V-shaped, thus it is also called the V-belt. In reality, the Mazda drive belt is essential and vital to so many parts of the engine. The sides of the belt are used for transmission of power. Surely, without the Mazda drive belt, your engine would not perform up to its maximum capability.
