Happy First Birthday Artery Gallery Scotland

By Dan Lewis

It is hard to imagine Crieff without Artery Gallery and yet this great gallery is celebrating only its first birthday at the end of October! Artery has accomplished a lot in that time; being awarded a Four Star Arts Venue award from VisitScotland; various website awards and most recently being invited by the Canadian Arts Board to represent Scotland at their Atlantic Cultural Space Conference and then undertake a tour to meet artists in remote areas. Dan Lewis of Artery said "This was a fantastic opportunity. They had contacted us as one of the only two contemporary galleries they knew of in Scotland who show international as well as local artists. We were taken on the tour by the Canadian Trade Commissioner and national galleries and exhibitions were especially opened for us. We felt very privileged to have seen some of the wonderful works and to have met some very talented people, whose work we hope to bring to Artery in the near future."

Meanwhile, back in Crieff, there are lots of new works on show. Sue Moorhouse's paintings, including the "Roads" series; Jacki Gardiner's seascapes; Kelly McCormick's unique clocks made from recycled materials; new abstracts by Judy Fairbairns and Sarah Burnside joins the five other jewellery designers from across the UK and Brazil. Works by exciting Australian artist Andrew Baines will shortly arrive, his first ones having sold almost as soon as they came in. There are also molten metal clocks, mythical castles, beautifully crafted mirrors, gorgeous metal bowls, unique ceramics, photography; sculptures and useful art.

The gallery has maintained its ethos of making art more affordable and accessible and has its own Save and Buy Scheme and gift certificates. With over 50 artists and constantly changing stock,So Artery is definitely on the must visit list.
