Eyebrow Design Tips
By Mary Madison
A perfectly groomed brow can change the entire structure of the face creating
the illusion of a brow lift. Full brows look most natural. To start shaping your
brows you need a good tweezer. My
favorite tweezer is the slant-tipped; it grabs hair when it is barely-visible on the
skin surface. Hold a pair of tweezers in your hands, pinch them closed. If you
can see between the points, they will not grab the hair well.
For easy tweezing, remove unwanted hairs after a shower; the steam softens the
roots. Remember that it is better to be conservative; tweezing weakens the root
just like waxing. After repeated tweezing, the hairs may not grow back. A
magnifying lamp is highly recommended for precision; you can isolate each
individual hair.
To accurately shape your brows, here are five easy steps.
1. Brush the eye brow hair in the direction of hair growth.
2. With a makeup pencil, draw your desired brow shape, and then tweeze the
hairs that fall below the line.
3. Tweeze in the direction of hair growth; gently pull one hair at a time.
4. Tweeze a few hairs from one brow and then the other so they remain
symmetrical. Do not over tweeze.
The shape of your brow should follow the natural line of your brow bone. The
arch should be highest at the outer corner of the pupil. To determine where the
brow should begin, place a pencil straight up from the side of the nostril. To
determine where it should end, hold the pencil diagonally against the outer
corner of the eye pointing up to the brow bone. Brow should extend slightly
beyond the eye at which point it should taper slightly down. Perfect set eyes are
one eye width apart. See diagram

If your eyebrows are thinning, consider permanent makeup. It saves time getting
ready; you look fresh in the morning without makeup. It is a good alternative for
people with bad vision and makes you look younger as you age. It is a wonderful
way to reconstruct the face after trauma such as burn victims, car accident
victims or scars in the eyebrows. About the Author This Master Beauty Expert has been working 20 years on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
