The Importance of Quality Content

By A.M. Wilmont

Find out where how can obtain good content for your site including Free Reprint Articles.

Perhaps the most important thing you can do as website owner to ensure adequate traffic is to make sure it has enouph quality content. The actual amount of content you need will depend on the specific goal or mission of the site in question. If the goal of the site is top search engine positioning for major keywords on a high profile search engine, then your site might require a large profusion of content, such as an article library, for example. Yet if your site is going to depend mostly on return visitors then you may not need quite so much content but you will probably need updated content which will draw return visitors back like a blog, picture gallery, or perhaps a media News feed. If your site does not take product orders or require much return traffic, then you may need quite little in the way of content. For example, if you have a a small town kite shop site, you may basically just need an online business card. In this case you may not need sso much earch engine traffic or return visitors so your content needs are less.
As far as content goes, the more the merrier. It can be articles (whether by you or from an article library), testamonials, calenders or anything else of percieved value. An in-house example could be the archiving of old newsletter articles onto your website. The search engines are kee on this kind of material because for them since they need to produce relevent results and this usually comes down to content, the more targeted the better. They know that that inferior engines have fluff results but that high-quality engines like Yahoo please their users with good results. So you are really just giving them what they want. A search engines that does not produce highly relevant results will soon die. After all, many of the top engines of 1997-98, like www worm and Northern Light, do not exist today, while many top ones like excite and Hotbot are no longer major players but still exist. So if you just give their customers what they want, the search engines will give you what you want-hits to your site. If you need to add entire pages, particularly pages with keywords related to your site, then adding articles could be the simplest method. There are more than several sites that feature free articles for reprint, such as articlecentral.com and easyarticles.com. What is cool about these is that you can look through their archives at your leisure and find just the right article(s) that you need, and their is basically an unlimited supply to choose from. Whether your site is about weather, business or baseball, you should be able to find something that fits. The only thing about adding an article is that you will have to add the writer's 'byline' or 'resource box' at the end of the article which usually has their web url and/or contact information. In many instances, however, a single article could be spread out and provide several pages of content. Creating numerous pages of content that link back to your main page is really key because each of those pages adds to your site's link popularity, and an abundance of good content will give your site increased credibility. It seems that when a search engine spider visits your site and follows all the links, it determines the structure of the site from it's content links. If your site is deemed to be a content-dense site then the relevency of the site is increased dramatically. In addition to articles, you may also want to add other types of free content to your site from a site like bravenet.com and get free guestbooks, free message boards, guestmaps, freeware plus e-mail forms. Guestbooks and forums are very strong content since they are regularly updated by your site visitors in a natural, steady fashion. Webmaster Engine dot com can provide you with free web templates and images for your website, while freesticky.com provides free message boards, News headlines, Cartoons and Jokes, Stock Tickers and Weather reports. Good content is essential good search engine positioning and plenty of returning visitors.
