A volatile and aromatic compound - Essential oil

Essential oil is an aromatic, concentrated and volatile compound which is extracted from plants. It is also known as "ethereal oil". The concept of essential oil should not be confused with essential fatty acid.
Essential oil is multipurpose oil which is used in perfumery industry, cosmetic products, health care products, medicinal products and also as a flavoring agent in various food products. In addition to these uses, it is also a main ingredient in aromatherapy. Let's discuss its uses in brief, in order to know essential oil in a better way:
• Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is therapeutic way to enhance health. It also helps in curing various diseases such as cough, cold, nausea, aches, and various other body problems. Thus, it will be right to say that aromatherapy helps the person in leading a healthier life. But, do you know how aromatherapy works? Aromatherapy makes use of various natural products such as absolutes and essential oils.
• Improves individuality
Essential oil contains the real essence of nature. And, inhalation or ingestion of essential oil boost up the energy level and brings positive attitude towards life.
• Fragrance industry
Essential oil is an extraction of nature in the form of oil. It is highly aromatic and is one of the key ingredients used in fragrance industry.
• Cosmetic industry
Essential oil contains elements of nature. Thus, it is used in many beauty products which enhance the beauty of skin and hair. Generally, essential oil is used in various creams, lotions, soaps, conditioners, shampoos etc.
• Food industry
As it is already known, that essential oil carries exotic fragrance. And, due to this reason, essential oil is also used in various food products as flavoring agent.
• Medicinal purpose
One of the features of essential oil is that it is antiseptic in nature. And, due to this it is used in various medicines to heal wounds, aches and various other body problems.
Usually, it is seen that many people has misconception that essential oil are similar to fragrance oil. In fact, the point must be noted that essential oil is extracted from various parts of plant such as wood, bark, stem, flower etc. So, it contains the real flavor of nature. In other words it doesn't contain any artificial flavoring.
There are different types of essential oil available in the market which has their own characteristics. So, the person must take care that he buys the right kind of essential oil.
