Satellite TV Verses Cable TV

By David Johnson

Everyone who has watched television or has driven a car has seen some sort of advertisement for a cable or satellite TV company offering you their services at a discounted rate with some sort of special deal. The main two companies going head to head are satellite TV companies DirecTV and Dish Network each claiming to be better than the other. You are smarter to listen to a professional's opinion who that rate and grade each company based on performance.

The standard sixty channel satellite television monthly prices with all of the televisions hooked up is generally around $33. Compare this to a sixty- four channel analog cable will usually cost around $40 and you will see that going with satellite will not only cost you less but will give you higher quality picture resolution and sound. Satellite TV offers their customers with 100 percent pure digital picture and sound which makes for excellent entertainment.

DirecTV and Dish Network are constantly trying to out do each other with price and exclusive access to something the other doesn't in an attempt to get more customers. If you are a true NFL football fan then you would definitely want to go with DirecTV because they off the exclusive NFL Sunday Ticket. The NFL Sunday Ticket provides the subscriber with 14 professional football games each week which is something that no other provider can touch.

DirecTV and Dish Network both offer access to college football games with the purchase of additional channel subscriptions. If you wish to watch your shows in high definition (HD) then you would want to go with Dish Network who offers 29 HD channels. DirecTV only offers 9 making it an easy win for HDTV viewers.

For any customers who wish to subscribe to international channels Dish Network wins with thirty different foreign language and culture channels. DirecTV only offers ten and most of them are in Spanish but if that's what you need it is a bit cheaper.

For those of you who like to purchase access to pay-per-view channels Dish Network provides 60 different channels compared to DirecTV with 55. Dish Network offers 6 Adult PPV channels and DirecTV offers 5.

Even when you compare the facts DirecTV still takes in more customers with their excellence in customer service with more than 16 million subscribers to date in America. To remain at number one they offer their high end equipment and professional installation at no cost to customers.

Their state of the art equipment comes with a personal digital video recorder (DVR) to every new subscriber. Once you learn the many functions of this device you will soon find you can not watch your favorite programming without it.

With the DVR you will never miss a program or movie that you want to see. This device allows you to digitally record and store up to 70 hours of video. It also comes with a remote that has a pause, fast forward, rewind and skip that allows you to pause and resume live television. You can also skip commercials with recorded programs. Name a cable provider that can do that.
