Knightsbridge and Kensington offer the best in British cuisine

By Martin McAllister

One of London's most famed districts, Knightsbridge, is a popular area for residents and visitors alike. Notable for its expensive shops, including the world famous Harrods, property in Knightsbridge is among the most expensive in the world; moreover, the district boasts some of the best hotels in Britain. As a result, the restaurants offered by many of these hotels are among the most widely applauded in Britain, and serve to attract high-profile guests, visitors and tourists.

One of the most notable of Knightsbridge's five-star hotels is The Cadogan Hotel, home to Langtry's - one of the area's most popular fine dining establishments. Langtry's is famous for its Edwardian glamour - complete with a Carerra-marble Louis XIV fireplace - and provides its visitors with an atmosphere that is both elegant and informal. Langtry's purports to offer 'fine British dining' with classic British dishes; from Aberdeen Angus beef to Gressigham duck, the flair with which Langtry's food is presented will certainly impress, while the delicious familiarity of the cuisine is sure to bring comfort.

Just down the street, the Jumeirah Carlton Towers on Cadogan Place and Sloane Street also boasts one of the area's finest restaurants: The Rib Room. Established in 1961, The Rib Room also offers traditional British cuisine amidst a graceful environment. With a Best of British lunch menu, The Rib Room also offers a special children's menu. So if you're dining with children in Knightsbridge, you won't have to worry about any fussy eating habits. Moreover, the restaurant also has a live pianist playing every evening to add to the elegance of the setting. The Rib Room truly represents Knightsbridge fine dining at its best.

If you're interested in venturing into Knightsbridge's neighbouring district of Kensington, why not visit The Tenth in the five-star Royal Garden Hotel? The Tenth serves Modern European cuisine in a restaurant that proclaims some of London's most staggering views. At The Tenth, diners can enjoy lavish gourmet feasts, as well as a cosy yet stylish atmosphere at the Tenth Bar. While The Tenth is the Royal Garden Hotel's best known fine dining establishment, the luxury hotel also houses the Park Terrace Restaurant, which offers a range of different dishes, including a British Speciality Menu.

So, if you're looking for the best restaurants in Knightsbridge and Kensington, rest assured that you won't be short of options. Take comfort in the fact that after a hectic day's shopping in Harrods and the area's other popular boutiques, you can take shelter in the fine restaurants of the area's best hotels.
