Photography As a Hobby

By Ajene Smith

Telephoto zoom lens: for any one interested in wildlife photography a
telephoto lens should become your standard lens.

Now photography is a big part of our culture, something that everyone
recognizes. Most everyone has family photos lying around their house,
many people take these photos on a regular basis, preserving precious
memories for years to come. But you can find beautiful landscapes right
where you live. That¡¯s the great thing about nature, it¡¯s everywhere, and
landscapes are everywhere.

The earlier model did not contain the film; instead, it had a small light-
shield box with lens and translucent screen on either side. The image that
traveled through the lens was stored on the screen. Known as 'camera
obscura,' it was no more than a sketching device for artists.

There are different ways of finding photography jobs, depending on the
type of job you are looking for and your experience. You can begin by
creating a resume and portfolio of your work.

Photography As a Hobby

Photography is considered as one of the rare hobbies that you can easily
learn. Some may think that there's a trick in taking great shots. However,
there are certain elements that you need to consider in order to enjoy
the hobby of capturing wonderful pictures. With the exception of video
cameras, there is nothing greater than capturing precious moments in
photographs. They preserve those moments you are part of. You may
enjoy those memories captured with your family, friends, and events and
you can even share it with them.

To enjoy this hobby, you need to first learn the skills and techniques of
photography. You can undertake training in technical skills to master the
art of capturing photographs. You also need to consider acquiring
different materials you will need to enjoy this wonderful hobby. Here are
some beginner tips for learning photography.

1. Get to know what interests you. Focus yourself on a particular
topic so that you can fully understand your chosen subject. It is important
to have full knowledge on the subjects you want to photograph.

2. You may invest in a self-focusing SLR with the newest features
with all the whistles and bells. You may also get an automatic focus
camera that can read details on every captured subject.

Photojournalism takes pictures of events to support the news story and
to create awareness among the people.

There are some excellent photography contests out there, some even
offer large cash prizes, scholarships to photography schools and really nice
cameras and camera supplies.

Do you like to take photos? Are you always standing by with your camera
waiting for that moment that is meant to be captured on camera? You
may even be taking photography classes or maybe you have already
completed a photography course and you want to share your photos with
others.

A macro lens will also allow you to take unique abstract images. By using a
wide aperture with a macro lens on natural shapes can create the perfect
abstract image. There is a wide world of photography. It touches each of
us in our lives on a daily basis in some form or another. Photography is so
much a part of our culture now that we hardly even notice all the places
that it exists.

3. If you choose to venture into nature photography, it is important
to consider the location of shots. Make sure to that sunlight will not affect
any of your shots. Position yourself behind the sun so that it will be use
for lighting to create clearer shots.

4. Practice taking photos in your home or in your backyard. You can
capture images that are not within your subject. Sometimes you may
even create great shots on unexpected and unplanned moments.

5. It is advised to take photos steadily using a tripod. You can
produce great images when you use the right angles. It is very important
to pay attention to the size, shape and position of the subject

6. When there is no available sunlight on the subject, you must
have artificial lighting to support the brightness and color of the
photograph. Although the camera has a flash, it is sometimes insufficient
in supplying the needed light in creating a clear image.

These are only some guides for you to enjoy photography as a hobby.
You may enjoy capturing images as long as you have the right materials
and good technical skills. Many believe that beginners taking photography
as a hobby can end up professional photographers.

You can go locally and look for internships or local firms or companies that
may need photographers. You can get the word out by doing small
events such as birthday parties and such.

Underwater photography is as the name implies photos that are taken
under water. This is pretty interesting since early cameras could not
function if wet. But as people started discovering the wonders under the
sea, they wanted to be able to share that with others or even just to
prove what they actually saw. You will then want to check for any fine
print and be sure you agree with the terms. For example, some contests
have rules about copyright and you give up copyright by submitting,
others ask for print to publish ¨C even if you don¡¯t win, and without
notifying you. If you do not agree to the terms of the contest, you
should not enter. More on Malaysia Photographer.

Another digital photography beauty is the ability to shoot your people or
events and view them ON THE SPOT! This can be done either through
your digital camera¡¯s viewfinder or by loading onto your computer. When
you are shooting special events in your life this is a real plus. Compare the
look of the photos from each photographer with one another. If you find
two that seem to be of similar quality but with vastly different prices,
then the decision is easy. Obviously the less costly photographer can do
the same or similar work for less.
