Obesity a Major Risk Factor for Worst Health Consequences

Obesity is one of the most common diseases in the world. This article will lead you through worst Health Consequences due to the obesity and weight loss is how much necessory in ones life . Let us first define what is obesity. ' National Health Institutes' define body mass index , BMI is 30-34.9 in type 1 obesity, 35-39.9 type 2 obesity and >40 is the type three or extreme obesity. where body Mass index is weight is Kg divided by height in meters square.

Obesity is a major risk factors for many diseases. Obesity can be classified into two forms , the Apple shaped and pear shaped. Out of the two the second one is more responsible for the future health risks. In Apple shaped obesity there is an accumulation of fat arround arms,legs and butts than abdomen. Whereas in pear shaped obesity fat is more accumulated arround the area of abdomin. It is a well known phenomenon that pear shaped obesity is directly propotional to the visceral fat.

According to the 'Current Medical Diagnosis' obesity can be divided in to types , the upper body obesity and the lower body obesity. Out of the two the second one is not that much increased risk factor as the first one. Fat accumulation is directly propotional to the increased body cholesterol , LDL etc. increasing the risk of Atherosclerosis, Hypertension, Heart attack.

Diseases due to overweight are not merely associated with the cardio vascular system. A syndrome called 'Picwickian Syndrome ' is a result of massive upper body obesity. The disease results in acidosis due to decreased ability of the lugs to clear the body CO2. So the partial pressure of carbon dioxide is increased resulting in respiratory acidosis.

Psychological disorders are also associated with the increased body fats. One of the commonest phsychological disorder is the 'Psychosocial Disability'. Patient is unable to perform the dialy usuall tasks as effectively as a normal non obese person.

Ceartain cancers are thought to be due to the obesity.Out of them Colon and rectum cancer, prostatic cancer in men, billiary tract, breast and ovarian cancers in female.

There is a long list of the disorders in which obesity is the most important risk factor for ones Health out of them some are as follows,

Type 2 Diabetes mellitus
Hyper Lipidemia
Coronary Artery disease
Degenerative joint disease
Gall stones
Gastro oesophageal reflux disease

It is also to be kept in mind that obesity is no longer the risk factor in the age of 75 years and above.
