Internet Telephony To Reach $268 Millions In 2011 With CAGR Of 25.6 %

Having debuted in 2002, Internet Telephony is largely new to India. In fact its popularity has soared only in the last few months. According to figures offered by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, only about 160 Millions minutes of VoIP communication took place between June 04 and July 05. The average ILD or international long distance telephony market usage stands merely at 600 Millions minutes per quarter.

However, there is a perceptible surge in Internet Telephony because of a number of positive changes such as increase in available bandwidth, well regulated licensing scheme, VoIP allowed for domestic calls. At the same time VoIP is quality cost effective alternative as compared to ILD wherein users have to pay ADC or Access deficit charges also.
