First Step to Outsourcing

By Rakesh Patel

QA is the ugly step sister of software development. The team of Software Development does not want to be bothered with testing the entire application. Consideration is not a creative or "fun" part of the process.

The process of Outsourcing is an excellent solution to the problem of nonexistent or incomplete Quality Assurance. Recently, several people are surprised to learn QA can even be outsourced. And outsourcing the QA is a polite step to low-cost advantageous offshore outsourcing.

If considering one example in software outsourcing, a client had developed software and was getting ready for Beta release to their prime clients at first time they too had neglected QA. Although the work of their individual IT programmers was good, entire system required for testing after the programming work was integrated together. The customer realized that going to the market without a comprehensive test of the system would set up a major disaster. Their target market lies in ordinary clients that would not tolerate any missing data, confusing behavior or an unexpected error messages which occurs randomly.

To start with Outsourcing there is one reason, QA is such a good place where you don't necessarily need to divulge your source code. There is possibility you can deliver a binary version of software for installation and testing by outsourced QA team. For this process you can divide QA into 5 different types of testing, let us look one by one:

By usability Testing one can specialize that may require focus groups of target users.
By requirements Testing making sure software does what you designed it to do.
An automated process to repeat tests quickly on each new release of your software makes it regression Testing.
Load or Stress Testing to ensure software has the required performance within it.
Testing software on different operating systems, browsers for environment Testing.
It is important to recognize the value of QA in the Software Development process; it may start out with a small development team and be satisfied with the quality of their code.
