Commitment

By John Mehrmann

When it comes to commitment, there are five types of character traits

1. Cop Out

No goals, No commitment, No leadership - just excuses.

2. Drop Out

The road paved with good intentions leads to a warmer climate. Don't drop out. Pave your way with good actions, commitment, follow-up and follow-through.

3. Hold Out

Afraid of commitment, afraid of failure or afraid of success. 90% of the things that most people worry about never happen, If you worry that you worry too much, it's time to stop worrying and start doing.

4. Sell Out

Easily swayed. You can only claim commitment if you take personal ownership of the purpose and direction, as well as the goal.

5. All Out

This is true commitment. Pour out your passion, energy and enthusiasm in your endeavors. If you are passionately committed then you will experience success regardless of the outcome. If this seems contradictory to you, then you have not yet experienced passionate commitment. If you are nodding your head in agreement that you have tasted sweet success even when the outcome was different than originally planned, then you are a leader with the heart of a lion.

"Look at a day when you are extremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've had everything to do, and you've done it."
- Lord Acton

"Perseverance is the strength and the will to fight all obstacles. Commitment is the ability to embrace the obstacles as you overcome them."
