Calm amidst Chaos: Waikiki Vacation Rentals

By Caitlin Moore

Some places resist the label of "tourist attraction" and try to hold onto a detached, isolated identity. Other spots recognize that they have what it takes to show travelers a good time and simply go with it. Waikiki is just such a place; it has all the qualities of a fabulous escape and doesn't try to hide it. People are welcomed here with the promise of a good time, and more often than not, that promise is delivered. To put it succinctly, settling into a vacation rental in one of Hawaii's most beautiful stretches of coastline is an experience worth seeking out.

Honolulu, Diamond Head, a few lesser known corners on the island of Oahu…these are the places that will vie for your attention during your stay. Waikiki consists of a few miles of beach, lots of tourist accommodations and an utterly welcoming atmosphere, though, so don't be surprised if you end up focusing most of your attention on this small spot.

This is almost a guarantee if you indeed decide to rent a vacation home, condo, apartment or beach house. For the uninitiated, vacation rentals tend to add a sense of complete comfort, relaxation, freedom and privacy to a vacation, and do so by creating a unique atmosphere. As opposed to hotel rooms, which tend to be squeezed together and decorated in the exact same décor, rental properties are one of a kind. They range from tiny to huge, quaint to flashy, and one will surely suit your needs as if it had been created expressly for you.

This fits-like-a-glove vacation rental probably has an amazing ocean view from at least one side, and the lanai (there are no porches in Hawaii, there are lanais) will allow a 180 degree view of the luscious land beneath you. The green of the parks plus the blue of the water and sky plus the fragrant breeze might all make you giddy, so do hold on to the railing when you step outside. Luckily, if this is all a bit overwhelming, inside your temporary home there are plenty of soft beds, ample sofas and a kitchen that can be filled with refreshments for your convenience. Inside and outside, it's a complete picture.

In Waikiki visitors spend their days playing in the ocean, shopping in the open air markets, canoeing, snorkeling, reading paperbacks beneath an umbrella, and pretty much whatever else floats their boat. Again, this is a destination that makes tourism a priority, which means that while you may encounter lots of other people they are all most definitely having a good time.

Besides, having access to your own personal home away from home lends an air of comfort and style to the situation. One minute you can be walking through a crowded beach, taking in the sights and sounds of dozens of people who've made their way here from all parts of the world, and the next minute you'll be safe inside your humble abode, several stories above the fray or tucked away on a side road. Whether you choose a modern condo or a king-sized home, if it's peace and quiet you seek you can find it in Waikiki (as unlikely as that sounds).

If this calm within chaos sounds appealing, go online to choose your ideal Waikiki Vacation Rental today. It's out there waiting for you, and if you get started you could soon have the key safe within your grasp.
