How do you circumvent motorcycle risks?

By Maricon Williams

Risks, dangers and threats are part of motorcycle riding. It is already an innate part of mounting on a bike and going mobile.

If you miss a signal of another rider be it a hand, lights or horn signal, you will be susceptible to an accident. If you missed the right moment to step on the brakes, you will likely encounter a mishap. In cases like these, how sure are you that you will make it alive?

When there are risks, dangers and threats, we have to be ready to circumvent their aftermath or at least lessen the gravity of a possible injury as well as other consequences.

As riders, we have to develop tactics manage the inherent perils. Some of the tactics that we have to develop are good cornering in times of twisty road, avoiding booby traps, negotiating muddy detours, riding with a group, surviving risky weather conditions and maintaining the bike so as to perform well and to avoid accidents. The common denominator is to be knowledgeable and skillful.

What we cannot avoid is the probability that sooner or later we will be encountering an accident. Let us take racers for instance. Racers do not intend to crash however, they do acknowledge the possibility of crashing. This is the reason why we have to be protected all the time albeit, we also have to be comfortable of our protection. We have to be protected not only from accident but against heat, glare, cold, precipitation, wind, sand, noise and debris. The very purpose of motorcycle apparel is to protect the skin, eyes, bones, tissues and the brain from injuries and damage.

The moment you step you mount on the motorcycle, you have to be completely guarded by motorcycle apparel. It includes helmet, sunglass, jacket or vest, gloves, pants and boots. Unconventional apparel includes back and neck protectors.

A number of riders are more concern about appearance rather than protection. In fact, the usual riding attire of riders is made up of leather jacket and jeans. These jeans are made up of cotton which has no abrasion resistance and leg protection. It is still but advisable to don prescribed motorcycle apparel in order to get the right protection in a comfortable way.

Of course, you do not have to be confined in few options. Broaden your choices because there is a wide-variety of motorcycle apparel in stores now. All you have to do is choose the one that your comfortable with.
