Emulsifying wax also thickens the solution. Let's imagine a required solution without emulsifying wax. It is sure that a cream or lotion solution without emulsifying wax will look to be inconsistence. Thus, it can be said that emulsifying wax brings consistency to the solution.

Feature of emulsifying wax are as follows:

• It is extracted from various fatty acid, Cetostearyl alcohol and ester isolation (plant fats).

• The shelf life of emulsifying wax is around 2 years (maximum).

• It is white in color.
 
• The melting point of emulsifying wax is 123 Fahrenheit.

• Its storage temperature should not exceed 90 Fahrenheit.

Emulsifying wax has the ability to bind oil and water and this characteristic makes this product an ever present substance in the cosmetic industry. It is also used in majority of the creams and lotions, which are used in aromatherapy.

It improves the texture of the product. It doesn't give a greasy look when it is applied on the skin. It can also be regarded as a gentle stabilizer which thickens the texture of the product. It suits to all skin types, that is, hardly it has been founded that it causes allergic reaction. Thus, it will be right to say that emulsifying wax is safe to use.

Basically, there are number of emulsifiers available in the market such as Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Polysorbate 20 etc. But, among them emulsifying wax is considered as one of the most easily usable emulsifiers. 
 
The key ingredients of emulsifying wax are sodium Lauryl Sulphate (sodium salt) and Cetostearyl alcohol.

In order to wrap up, emulsifying wax is just like a wonder which mixes oil and water (being used in making various creams and lotions). Otherwise, it is very difficult to blend oil and water together. By knowing all its ingredients, it is definitely sure that emulsifying wax is not a botanical product (natural). But, still it is very useful and used in majority of the products of aromatherapy and cosmetic industry.
