to refill the tank with liquid gas and this can be messy as well as 
 
dangerous if you are not careful. Both types of lanterns use mantels so be 
 
sure to carry extras.

Bring along some good sunscreen. Even in the winter time a person can 
 
get a sun burn. You may want to get some type of bug repellant also. 
 
Don't combine the sunscreen and bug repellant as sunscreen may have to 
 
be used more frequently.

going camping for a few days.

1. Studies have shown that wearing a jacket or a sweater is not enough 
 
when camping out in the woods. This means the individual must always 
 
have a box of matches. This can be used to build a fire to cook food as 
 
well keep everyone warm - especially when it is very cold in the evenings.

This should be placed in a waterproof case to prevent it from getting wet 
 
making it impossible to use.

2. The group must also carry a map. This will make it easy for everyone to 
 
keep on the right track.

telling when it will run out, especially when traveling at night.

5. People must not forget to take some food and water. It's a good idea 
 
to take some extra just in case anyone gets hungry or thirsty. Studies 
 
have shown that a person can survive for almost 2 weeks without food 
 
and only with water should anything happen to the campers during the 
 
trip.

6. It's a good idea to take along a pocketknife. This can be used to cut 
 
wood for the fire, repair the tent should it be damaged or help the group 
 
hunt for food in case the supplies run out.

7. The most important thing to have is a first aid kit. This should have 
 
sterile gauze, pads, bandages, needles and thread that can be used to 
 
treat minor cuts or injuries.

These things should be checked and replenished each time before going 
 
out on a trip because there is no telling what can or will happen when 
 
people go out camping.

Just like your old scoutmaster used to say, "Always be prepared". Make a 
 
list and check it three times before you leave on your camping trip.

locales and wilderness.

One of the most convenient and popular camping activities is hiking trails. 
 
For some people a hike can consist of a simple walk around the park, while 
 
others prefer a much lengthier hike. Regardless of what sort of hike you 
 
will be taking, a little preparation will go a long way in ensuring a 
 
comfortable journey.

towns near the parks. Various outfitters and companies outside some of 
 
the popular National Parks will offer excursions that go into the parks. Get

fishing, or just hanging out in the woods for the day, with a little planning 
 
and by following these tips, I¡¯m confident you and you¡¯re palate will have 
 
the experience of a lifetime.
