What Is Eye Lift Surgery?

The procedure involves removing excess skin from the upper and lower lids with the aim of providing the patient with a more youthful and fresher look. It's not uncommon for people in their twenties to have eye lift surgery and while this may be seen as being a little indulgent, the fact remains that the surgical technology is now available.

Be warned that it's simply not just a matter of going into surgery with heavy and ugly eyelids and coming out looking like a fresh-faced teenager. This is why you will undergo a solid consultation period to determine mainly what your expectations are. Many people have unrealistic goals and in all likelihood, you will be told that the surgery will not correct all and every blemish.

It's also worth remembering the effects of the surgery may not become fully apparent for nearly a year although in most cases, an initial improvement will be noticed in the first month. You may also be required to undergo further procedures depending on the level of attention you need.

The recovery period following eye lift surgery will vary depending on the extent of treatment you receive. As a guide, bruising will begin to dissipate after the first week. You may be required to take mild medication but in most cases, you'll receive relief instructions such as the use of ice packs and eye drops. While pain is minimal, you'll more than likely be asked to monitor your temperature in case of infection but again, this is mainly for precautionary measures.

A number of factors will affect the overall cost including consultaion, anaesthestists and surgery procedure but it could set you back anywhere between $2000-$6000. This figure could be even higher in more extreme cases. Be wary of accepting just a total price; in other words, always ask for a breakdown of the specific costs.
