You should not consume generic meridia without consulting with your doctor or pharmacist. Meridia can have some side effects if you are taking alcohol while on this medication. Before taking this medication, you need to check with your doctor about how often and what type of alcohol you drink. Your doctor can advice you whether you should continue taking alcohol or not, if yes then what amount of alcohol is safe while on meridia. <br><br>

At the start of your treatment Generic Meridia is usually prescribed for a period of four weeks. Regular check up with your doctor is mandatory during this period. The patient is kept under observation by the doctor in this period of four weeks to check for any signs of weight loss or side effects. Your blood pressure and heart rate is also monitored carefully. A 10mg dose is to be consumed daily (preferably in the morning), if this is not good enough then your doctor may increase your dose to 15mg (daily) after 4 weeks. As a possible side-effect, some individuals might experience an increase heart rate and in blood pressure. A weight loss of about 4lb is estimated during the course of this medication. If the desired result in terms of weight loss is not achieved, either stop this medication or increase the dosage as per your doctor's advice.

Generic Meridia is a serious medication used to loose weight for health measures and should not be looked at as a cosmetic to look slim. It is not recommended for someone who wants to loose few pounds but for people who have a higher BMI (body mass index). Body Mass Index is calculated with respect to your height and weight. People with higher BMI are more prone to weight related diseases as compared to people with low BMI. A BMI between 18-24 is considered to be normal, over 30 is considered overweight and below 18 is underweight.
