Folly Beach has a funny name for being such a safe bet. It's actually a barrier island that stretches for about seven miles, and is located a cozy eight miles away from colorful Charleston. Erosion of the beach has caused this towering landmark to become surrounded by water, but the actions of concerned citizens have allowed it to be protected from further wear and tear thanks to an underground steel wall.
