These facilities can make incorporating your business in another state that much easier. All you need legally is to have a resident agent in that state, but you may want to have a more concrete physical presence in the state of your incorporation. Such states as Nevada and Delaware are favored locations for out-of-state business incorporations. You may, in addition, want to be able to receive mail at an address in this state. Mail drop services will send you an email to notice you that you've got mail. Additional information that can be included is the sender's name. You can find out if you received your bank statement, your credit card statement, and various other bills. Then there are ways to process your mail rapidly if you so choose. You can have mail opened, scanned and sent to you by email. You can have it forwarded to your address or a different address. Have the mail sent out once a week, twice a week, or whatever is appropriate for you.

You may want to appeal a particular local market, and reassure customers by having a local mailing address, all they are required to have in most states in a Registered Agent. This all depends on what type of physical presence you want to maintain in your out-of-state location. You can have the minimal "virtual" presence, that is a street address with a mailbox, or you can start adding augmented features. Some mail-box centers are also located in offices, and include conference centers that can be reserved for corporate meetings. You may have available a cubicle on a time-share basis that has a phone, fax line and computer with internet. Some virtual office centers now also make the arrangement to have you appoint one of their employees an official officer of your company. Finally, many answering service operations would be very happy to set up for you a virtual receptionist, who usually handles several companies' calls.

Don't forget the advantages of setting up your corporation in Delaware, or especially in the state of Nevada. There are no income taxes or corporate taxes. It is very difficult to "pierce the corporate veil", and the courts like to keep it that way. There are minimal disclosure requirements and your stockholders are not a matter of public record. allows your business to operate in a lightly regulated environment.
