To begin with, the book gives an introduction of the general set up of the economy giving the geographical and administrative structure. It brings out results of the Census 1991 and 2001. The census results on the state wise geographical area and the number of States, UTs, Districts, Tehsils/Sub-Districts, Community Development Blocks, Towns and Villages in India have been listed. A number of new districts have been created in India during 1991-2001. An entire state wise listing of the new districts added to each state is available in the tables. The highest government officials of India since 1991 have been named with their tenures.
