Gathering Fan Base For Machiavelli Hangman
By Ozzie Coleman
European director Shervin Youssefian who entered the US in 1992 has splashed onto the Hollywood market with one of the most original screenplays since the Sixth Sense, called Machiavelli Hangman. While the team of acclaimed producers behind this project have done all they could to keep the story hush hush and on the QT like most of Peter Jackson’s projects, some word has slipped through the cracks about the origins and subject matter.
Machiavelli Hangman (http://www.hangmanmovie.com) is said to be a combination of films such as Pulp Fiction, Crash, Star Wars and Lord of The Rings. As incredible and unlikely as this may be, Shervin Youssefian (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1352346/) has been known for his sense of broken narrative and most of his films have always referenced to out of the this world dimensions.
As the Passion of the Christ picked up a following early last June upon its release, Machiavelli Hangman seems to already gather a fan base who can’t wait to see what all the buzz is about. Some say that this is the next Pulp Fiction while others who have glimpsed at the script believe it to be a totally different beast. "Having worked at a script development company for two years and having read over a 100 scripts, this was the first that caught my eye and I realized that this wasn’t your ordinary script."
These were the same thoughts that went through producer Artin Nazarian’s mind when he first read the script. "I immediately got interested because it’s so different than what you may see on the conventional film market."
Machiavelli Hangman is expected to be the next broken narrative film to break conventions after Pulp Fiction and other Quentin Tarantino films and more recently Memento.
While writer-director Shervin Youssefian could not be reached for comment, associate-producer Lusine Kachoyan offered an enthusiastic explanation "We wanted to make a film on a low budget like Napoleon Dynamite but on a smaller scale and completely revolutionize the film industry. We want to mark the official birth and initiation of digital filmmaking into the 21st century." About the Author Ozzie Coleman is a senior reporter for the Hollywood industry. This is his review of the movie Machiavelli Hangman.
