Sony Ericsson K800i: the 3G shutterbug.

By Ben Bradle

Much has been debated about the use of a camera phone in respect to privacy and copyright violations against its great utilities. To fuel these debates further, Sony Ericsson have came up with their latest model – K800i. The Sony Ericsson K800i is not a just camera-phone, it is a camera and a phone. The classic candy-bar form in a dark case, the 262k colours TFT display with a lens cover on the back looks simple and therefore very sophisticated.

First thing first. The Sony Ericsson K800i features a 3.2 megapixel camera build from CMOS-technology. An ordinary LED will not do justice to the great camera, so the manufacturers could only settle for a full-fledged impulsive xenon flash. Other than 'basic' features like 16x digital zoom and special effects, the Sony Ericsson K800i features 'BestPic' – that takes four pictures before and four after you click a shot so that you get the best possible frame.

The device also gives you the option to compromise the quality of photos to save on memory. But with an expandable memory slot, you probably won't give a second thought to it. The camera have three modes – Macro, Infinity and Automatic so that you get exactly what you are looking for while taking the picture. The Sony Ericsson K800i includes an improved version of the gallery and a Picture Editor.

The Sony Ericsson K800i supports tri band GSM an UMTS networks. The phone supports 3G technology. The device also have 'slower' Internet through GPRS. Net surfing is with the extremely easy Access NetFront browser. The phone also supports RSS Feeds to stream in live television feeds. All these connectivity tools are topped up with Bluetooth, Infrared and USB connectivity.

The shutterbug not only clicks, it rocks too. The Sony Ericsson K800i has an integrated Media Player with 'Walkman' features like Mega Bass. Enjoy your music while you read texts transmitted by the radio station with the FM Radio with RDS.

If you're looking for a camera phone with high functionality in all other fields, look no further than the Sony Ericsson K800i.
