Not A Big Fan Of Selling?
By Roger Gurung
With an alarming statistic of 9 out of 10 people failing in Home based businesses, it's no wonder there is a stigma attached to the industry.
Of course that doesn't stop the 120,000 people per month in joining a new venture, but that's not always so great for the individual who just wants to make a change to better his or her life.
So what do you have to do to be on the right side of that statistic?
To boil it down to a few words: faith in action. And it doesn't matter what you start, if you don't finish you won't see the results you desire and that's about as rudimentary as one can get.
This can be said for anything where you must invest time to get a result, you must follow through. The problem is when we begin we get all charged up and make the sales calls, attempt to recruit people, have meetings, attend conference calls, make more lists and end up with a pile of people to call back that you eventually don't bother with because "it doesn't work", at least that's what you're thinking after a few months.
The good news is that it does work but it also takes work, and more importantly, commitment.
To see some serious results you're looking at a time and money investment of at least a year even if it's only for a couple of hours
a day, but it must be everyday.
Sure there are those who make big money very quickly but they are more the exception than the rule. The vast majority will earn their fortunes in steps, much the same way it takes to eat an elephant – one bite at a time!
When I ask others why they have struggled in the industry the most common answer I get is you have to become a professional salesperson because, in the end, you have to ask for money. And 95% of the population are not salespeople. To help them, the industry has replaced that so-called dirty word with monikers such as "associate" "member" or "distributor", to name a few of the more popular ones.
First of all there is nothing wrong with being in sales, it's a noble and extremely highly paid profession, and it is a profession. However, since the vast majority of the populace are not – and do not – like to sell mainly because of their fear of rejection, what do you do if you still want earn an extra income working from home? You may not like the answer to this but if you are in any type of business, you are a salesperson Jack and the moment you get over that fact you are on your way to make some money! There are a number of books on how to close, how to speak, how to influence, how to think etc. etc. Invest in them, you'll be doing yourself a favor and I look forward to seeing you in the winner's circle!
