Nexium - Fight GERD

GERD is commonly known as gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is a recurrent and chronic disease which needs long-term medical treatment. How does Nexium help fighting GERD?
Nexium medication is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Nexium reduces the amount of acid generated by the stomach. Patients suffering from damaged esophagus caused by stomach acid (erosive esophagitis) also use Nexium. Patients suffering from gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori, or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) also use Generic Nexium. Nexium is also used to treat the infection that causes most duodenal ulcers. Nexium can also be used for medical conditions other than those not mentioned above.
Nexium Medication
Do not use this Nexium medication if you are allergic to Nexium or other similar drugs. Before taking this medication, inform your doctor, if you have a history of kidney or liver problems. If yes then you might not be able to take this medication unless you are advised by your doctor. After taking your case into consideration he might alter your dosage or dosage patterns and might ask you to come for regular check ups.
At times, depending on your condition your doctor may advice you to take Nexium with other antibiotics. For better results, strict to all those medications advised by your doctor and consume them as directed. Follow the instructions mentioned on the cover of the medication. if you don't understand any point, as your doctor or pharmacist and get it clear. Do not stop taking Nexium without prior informing your doctor. Only your doctor can advice you whether to stop this medication or not.
Nexium Side Effects
Although you cannot anticipate Nexium Side Effects, but some of the possible Nexium Side Effects are listed below.
- Any form of allergic reactions
- Hives
- Breathing problems
- Swelling on lips, face, tongue
If any of the above mentioned nexium side effects persist for long time or become bothersome, immediately check with your doctor.
Some of the less serious nexium side effects are:
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Constipation
- Dry mouth
There might be some other possible side effects associated with nexium not mentioned above. You are advised to talk to your doctor as soon as you pick a particular side effect and especially if it becomes bothersome.
