Mobile Phone Sales Continue To Go Upwards In Russia

After the (3G) mobile telecom services introduction in Russia, the mobile handset sales by 2008 are likely to increase in excess of 32 Million units. The mobile market of Russia is expanding at a fast pace, with volume of handsets increasing (approximately) from 28 Million units in 2005 to 33 Million units in 2006.
The mobile market of Russia is booming, as mobile handset sales are estimated to grow further. LG expects to sell mobiles in excess of 3 Million in Russia this year (2006), concurrently expanding its global mobile sales by over 50% to more than 60 million.
In 2006, the market of content services is anticipated to rise more dynamically, whereas in 2005 the market stagnated & overall showed restrained growth. The key reason for stagnation was that "personalized" services was not enough for its users wanting to make content experience of theirs much more exciting.
The major trend on mobile market in 2006's diversification of customer accessible services such as SMS & MMS, content services, like ring tones & logos, mobile Internet & basic services, like caller ID.
According to the RNCOS report "Russian Mobile Market - An Industry Insight (2006)" a large number of opportunities have emerged for the investors after the introduction of 3G technology & deployment of new networks in Russia.
The four largest mobile handset suppliers to the Russian market, Samsung, Nokia, Motorola and SonyEricsson, accounted for 85 percent of the market in July-September
