Enjoy Britain's wide variety of theme parks

By Martin McAllister

Theme parks provide a fun and entertaining environment for people of all ages and so its therefore no surprise that people across the globe flock to universally famous theme parks such as the Disney World attractions in Orlando, Florida, and Paris, France. However, Britain, in particular, also has a number of excellent theme parks, and whether heading on a family vacation or on a trip with friends, anyone wishing to take a short break at a theme park resort is sure to enjoy the wide variety of attractions available to them.

If you are looking for a traditional theme park with an assortment of exciting rides for everyone to enjoy, make sure you pay a visit to Alton Towers. As perhaps Britain's most famous theme park, Alton Towers is located in Staffordshire and is easily accessible from any part of the United Kingdom. Inside, the park is split into several different themed areas which include "Merrie England", "Gloomy Wood", "Katanga Canyon" and "Forbidden Valley", which is the home of 'Nemesis', one of Alton Towers' most high profile roller coasters.

If you're looking for similar theme parks in and around London, why not visit Chesssington World of Adventures or Thorpe Park? If you live in or are planning a visit to Scotland, make sure you don't miss out on the delights of M&D's, Scotland's family theme park. Situated just outside Glasgow, M&Ds is spread across 20 acres of land in Strathclyde Country Park and its central location makes it easily accessible from all of Scotland's main entry points.

However, if you are looking to visit a theme park with a difference, why not visit Legoland - a Lego-themed park in Windsor, Berkshire. Legoland attracts thousands of visitors each year, both children and adults alike. Although specifically targeted at children between the age groups of two and twelve, Legoland is undoubtedly a fantastic way for grown-ups to revisit their childhood! As well as viewing the amazing Lego models that have been built around the park, children can also visit the imagination centre, where they will find Duplo and Lego to play with, as well as the Sky Rider monorail. In Mini-land, visitors will find nearly 40 million coloured plastic blocks which have been used to recreate scenes from various cities around the world. So, regardless of your child's (or your own) age, you'll be sure to enjoy the wide variety of fun activities that Legoland provides.

If you're looking to take theme park breaks in Britain, there is a varied range of options available online or via travel agents. Simply browse through the ample selection of amusements and theme parks available in the UK, and revisit your inner child!
