Lazy Men Fuel e-tail

By Samuel Hary

Shopping is an arena ruled by the womenfolk since time immemorial but the onset of 21st century has turned the tables on many. Shopping is one such phenomenon. The phenomenon of online retailing is catching up in the United Kingdom like wild fire as in 2005 consumers in UK bought goods worth £8.2 billion from various marketing web portals. This figure is up by 29% from the online sales achieved by portals in the year previous to this, states market analysis firm Verdict. In general terms, most men despise all the shopping excursions to which they get subjected to by their respective better halves.

A survey carried out by the British Council of Shopping Centres stated that "Men who can't be bothered to go out shopping are helping to drive rapid growth in online retailing" and few weeks back the Irish firm, 3V Transactions Services Ltd published its research reports which stated that "Irish Males aged between 21 and 30 outstrip their female counterparts by 38% for online spending". Now that's actually a revelation.

Bargaining with shop-keepers, going up and down the high street, tests the resolve of those with nerves of steel, but finally they all crack and plead to be forgiven; not any more. The phenomenon of online shopping has cut out the journey to crowded streets and the cashback portals has made life that much easier.

Unlike women, who normally visit malls or the high streets even when they have no plans to buy something, men have a straight forward approach and they know what they want to buy. They approach the sites with a 'hunter' approach and literally hunt for the product they are looking for, in a territory that does not intimidate them like the supermarket and other shopping outlets do.

So, women time to match your men folk 'click for click'. Otherwise the fairer-sex will soon loose its traditional forte.
