Nokia N95: A pocket-sized multimedia computer

By Andrena Markley

The Nokia N95, is the latest in the high-end N series from Nokia, the world's leading player in mobile phones, featuring an innovative double slide design with multimedia controls and a keypad on opposite end of the phone. Move the screen up, and you'll get the keypad in the usual slider phone fashion. Move the Nokia N95's screen down and you'll get multimedia control keys, designed to be used with the phone in landscape (wide) mode. Experience the true power of multimedia computing with the Nokia N95 pocket-sized multimedia computer
Packed with high technological features this phone is a multimedia fan's ultimate fantasy come true! It pretty much does everything a computer can do. However the most amazing aspect of this phone is its size At 99mm x 20mm x 53mm (90cc), the N95 packs an impressively amount into a small space. With the launch of this phone, Nokia has managed to add two major technologies to the N series line (GPS and HSDPA) while significantly reducing the volume of the device.
The N95 is Nokia's first HSDPA (3.5G) device. Designed for High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) networks and with support for WLAN, EDGE and WCDMA networks, the Nokia N95 provides excellent coverage and speeds wherever you may be. In HSDPA networks, browsing the internet, reading email, streaming video and downloading large files can be carried out up to 10 times faster than with 3G. Wi-Fi, WCDMA (3G) connectivity, together with quad band GSM and EDGE are also supported. Bluetooth 2.0, IrDA and USB make up the local connectivity options.
Keeping pace with its competitors, Nokia brings mobile photography to high art. The N95 packs in a 5 megapixel camera boasting a Carl Zeiss lens with autofocus and digital zoom with a dedicated 2 stage capture button on the side of the phone. Compose your images beautifully in the impressive 2.6" display and fire away. And post your collection straight from your device to Flickr and share your precious memories with near and dear ones. For a more cinematic experience, shoot your most spontaneous stories in DVD-like quality video at up to 30 frames per second. You might never want to cart your big home movie camera around again.
Music playback is also a major focus of the device. The dedicated multimedia keys on the top flip of the device are primarily designed for music playback and you can enjoy FM radio and it also includes MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA. Video playback on the QVGA screen is excellent and supported video formats include 3GP, Real Video and MP4 with support for the latest AVC codec. The N95 phone's internal memory is an impressive 160Mb, and this can be expanded with hot swappable microSD cards.
The Nokia N95 puts the whole world in your pocket. Wanting to be more than just another phone, the device comes with a dedicated maps application.
Plan your route, find your way home and get to know places you've never visited with integrated GPS mapping. Fly over more than 100 countries, zoom to street level and get the low-down on more than 15 million locations around the world.
The N95 uses S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 (Symbian 9.2) and as such includes version 2.0 of the open source Nokia web browser (supporting WML, XHTML and HTML in one browser), Flash Lite 2.0, FOTA (firmware over the air updates) and more.
Would'nt you love to own this technological wonder?
