Vacationing in Oxnard, California

By Caitlin Moore

Nighttime fantasies about lounging on the beach and watching the waves of the Pacific breathe in and out over your bare feet are normal to have every now and again, but when dreams of California start to seep into your everyday life, you know it's time for a vacation. Instead of staring blankly out the window wishing you saw sand and sun instead of snow and ice, do yourself a favor and start planning a trip. This alone will start to alleviate your frustrations and lighten your load, so focus on a prime spot and get the wheels in motion.

Try Oxnard on for size, a little slice of sunshine along the Golden Coast of California. About twenty miles of beaches make this a special place to be, and one that definitely has what it takes to satisfy a quenching thirst for a properly amazing coastal vacation. From the shoreline to the bountiful activities of central Cali, the choices here are endless and will finally take your mind and body to the place they need to be.

Oxnard is known for its amazingly soft sand and for beaches that are relatively uncrowded. The weather is mild and dry during every season, and the sun shines an impressive 354 days out of the year. Oxnard is also known for strawberries, and fights a few other cities over the right to call itself the "Strawberry Capital of the World." Basically this entire section of coast is known for being studded with these sweet berries, as you'll see if your visit coincides with the annual festival held in their honor.

For being somewhat small, Oxnard has an assortment of artistic offerings to tempt culturally-oriented vacationers. The Carnegie Art Museum as well as a vintage automobile museum and the Elite Theatre Company are all well-known attractions definitely worth a look. And if the stars align, check out the famed Oxnard Film Festival that showcases an array of hot new entries onto the film scene. A symphony, children's museum and maritime museum are a few others to seek out, so don't let your brain go to waste during your visit here.

The lovely beaches will certainly tempt you to turn off all thinking devices, though. After snoozing for a bit on the silky sand beneath one of those giant striped umbrellas, get your heart pumping and do something active. Rent a kayak and tour the shore. Charter a whale-watching excursion. Go sea fishing. Hop aboard a yacht and pretend to be a true California millionaire. For a view of the ocean from a bit farther back, take a hike or rent a bike and enjoy the fresh, fragrant air.

As you would expect, Oxnard has places to golf and play tennis as well as indulge in a spa treatment or two. This is California, after all, and people here like to look good, feel good, and play all day long. Day trips are also a good idea, as this region is packed with pleasing places that will satisfy all kinds of interests and hobbies. Wineries, Channel Islands National Park, Hollywood and a host of famous beaches will draw you away from Oxnard for a few hours, but be assured that it will always be a pleasure to return at the day's end.

This will be especially true if you opt to rent a vacation property. Oxnard has a few to choose from and they all aim to complete the picture you've been carrying around in your head for so long. As you take the time to actually realize your dream vacation, go ahead and settle into accommodations that are spacious, convenient and filled with above-average amenities. Most are equipped to handle at least six guests, so bring the whole family (or the friends you've been dying to catch up with) and prepare for a few days of relaxing, work-free fun in the sun. Oxnard Vacation Rentals will surely help to bring your daydreams to fruition, so go online to find the one that's right for you and yours.
