Good Things To Know About Franklin County
By Dalvin Rumsey
A visitor to Franklin County will be charmed with the fresh air and the real taste of countryside. He or she will most surely enjoy the sight of the open, flowing land, as well as those of old farm houses and barns that have lasted there from the past years.
Should you stop beside a wooden house, you will be surprised that it still stands on its chipped rocks and cinderblocks. The roof may be covered in rust from years and years of cruel rain and sun. Such a wooden house is most likely to have a single room, but the view of the tall grassy field can only make up for that!
The farmhouses are usually two stories high and are typical to the early 1900s. These old homes are amazing places to visit, as this would really be much like the adventure trip of a lifetime.
After school or during vacations, the children can do many interesting things. The Franklin County Recreation Department offers all sorts of sports teams for males and females each season. They recently sponsored a belly-dancing class. There are two beautifully sculpted golf courses as well as the opportunity to sky dive just about 5 minutes outside of Louisburg. Not to speak about the muddy and rocky trails that are great for riding ATVs or playing with your 4x4 vehicle.
The two most important historical places in Franklin County are the Louisburg College and the Laurel Mill. The Louisburg College was founded in 1814. It was meant to be a female college, but this all changed in the following years. The Louisburg College is still one of the oldest private junior colleges. It has been offering Associate degrees in arts, sciences, and business to its students for the last 215 years. More than 90% of its graduates move onto four-year colleges and universities and this really makes a good image to anyone.
Franklin County is thus a very interesting place to visit for people of all ages. No one can complain that he or she is not able to find an exciting thing to do in this county. Even if it is not a bit like the crowded cities we are used to live in, it may be a nice change from the ordinary life we lead.
