Find Out The New Future Features Of Formula One
By Dalvin Rumsey
Formula One has undergone major changes along the years, as the competition is said to have been shifted form drivers and teams to the tires. The rules from the last few years have tried to set back this type of tire war that has started and bring it all back to the racing skills of the drivers and of their teams.
The dominance of Michael Schumacher and Ferrari in the early 2000 has made the figures of the viewers drop, as the fans had no longer interest in the races. This was a hard time for Formula One!
Another fact is that rules had to be set in order to combat the spiraling costs which affected the smaller teams. The sport had to remain as safe as possible. The only option FIA had was to make these rules work and has now instituted a number of rule changes, including new tires restrictions, multi-race engines, and reductions on down force. What they wanted to state is that safety must be above costs and everything else involved in a Formula One race.
Recently, FIA tried to change these rules even more. That is why in 2005, the racing world got the proposal of enhancing overtaking won the support of the teams by agreeing about the new rear wing concept that would eliminate the current single rear wing and replace it with two box-like wings, one behind each rear wheel. This rule will start to apply in 2007, together with the introduction of standardized electronic units and tires.
Bernie Ecclestone, the FOM president, has begun organizing a number of Grand Prix in new countries and continues to discuss new future races there. So, this sport has started a quick development in some new areas of the world, which is a good thing for both watchers and drivers.
The 2005 season has brought some new things to the eyes of the race watchers, so the viewing figures started to go up again. Once the Ferrari's dominance had ended in 2005, Renault and McLaren-Mercedes became the top two teams in Formula 1. Fernando Alonso even became the new World Champion.
The only thing we can do is wait and see what the 2008 season will bring, as there are 22 teams who have applied for the final 12th team spots available and that the interest of the viewers has also come back to life!
