Advantages Of Human Translation Over Software

By Dalvin Rumsey

Many students have the goal to become great freelance translators, but not before finishing a translation training program at higher professional education or university level. Nevertheless, it is not an easy task to get into the competitive translation market. Translators who lack the experience are not the best candidates to setting up a contract with any of the translating agencies around. The worse part of this all is that business clients are difficult to find without commercial tools and that the tax authorities will not just accept anyone as a self-employed person.

Himan translation service providers will have to stick to agreed deadlines, offer a consistent level of quality, consult relevant reference resources, deal effectively with various registers and specializations and the list can go on and on! But there will most certainly be a trial period for any new freelancer that joins an agency. During this trial time, he or she will be carefully monitored. Their staff has at least two or three years' fulltime experience in the translation business. The reason for this is that every agency will want to reduce the risk of losing any money on inexperienced employees.

It is a known fact that most companies are looking for agencies that can fill their translation needs in a range of different languages, are always available, can take on specialized texts and have the procedures in place to ensure that all deadlines are met.

These are all reasons for companies to choose an agency, rather than a software, even if the costs of the services an agency provides are higher than those of a software. Any software will probably make mistakes in your translation, many times, you just can't afford to have any kind of mistakes. Even if software it's cheaper, the acctual price you could pay for a software mistake will lead you to the conclusion that it's better to be safe.

Your translation success will be limited only by the skills and experience of the company you choose for your translation. As long as you take care to choose professionals, you will be more than safe.
